AGS File Manager

Description : AGS File Manager creates, edits and checks AGS format data files. The data is entered into purpose designed entry screens to create AGS version 3 format data files. It provides validation to determine that entries are made in required fields. The AGS file is automatically created at the end of each entry cycle but can be opened at a later date in order to edit and amend the file or append further data.


Contam Data System

Description : Contam Data System allows the management of analytical results for the determinands defined in the CNMT pick list defined by the AGS document Electronic Transfer of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Data, 3rd Edition. The pick list amounts to some 417 pre-set determinands but the system allows this to be added to by the user. The system provides a means of entering chemical analytical results, together with project and sample reference information. It allows the data to be recalled for editing and amendment. Checking is carried out from result sheets, which can be either previewed on screen or printed as required. It will generate an AGS format file to contain the key fields in the Group table CNMT and the common fields, Test Result and Test Result Unit. Data is entered in a spreadsheet format and the precise list of determinands shown on the data entry screen is user selectable and stored as pre-set groups. Data within the entry screen is capable of being cut, copied, pasted and deleted in accordance with standard Windows procedures and can be transferred in and out of Excel spreadsheets. Data can be saved at any time and edited at any subsequent period. A data management routine provides backup, copying and renaming of analytical results and user defined determinand pick lists.

KeyGeoView

Description : The KeyGeoView is a document archive and retrieval system for site investigation data that allows users to archive projects either as scanned documents or as live computer files and to locate the stored data using a GIS map interface. The Base Module works with a single user interface screen and enables users to locate information by; Project references (name, number, location etc), Borehole references (type, number, eastings, northings, depth etc); Document references (name, location). Bookmarks can be set up to mark the start of each chapter or appendix, or for individual test results or borehole logs. Bookmarks can either be linked to a whole project or just the borehole they relate to. The display of the bookmarks can then be limited to only the ones relating to the current borehole or include the project bookmarks. Projects can be located by using the project finder or the project control panel. Boreholes can be located using the borehole finder or scrolling through all the holes in a selected project. All the features of the Base Module will work along side AutoCAD Map3 or AutoCAD Map Guide to provide a GIS interface to the stored data. This allows the user to either locate a borehole within their mapping environment and launch KeyGeoView with that borehole displayed or locate the borehole in KeyGeoView and zoom to the relevant area within the map environment. All the data stored can be accessed over a corporate Intranet, or over the Internet, using Internet Explorer 4 and AutoCAD Map Guide - no software is required on the users machine. Once the required borehole has been located then selecting the geotechnical report button will display the information and available documents on the hole. MAP-pro

Description : MAP-pro is a program for making CAD-type vector maps. It is suitable for displaying the locations of boreholes, soundings and other field investigations on a map background with associated files of the drilling or insitu testing data. Both vector and raster maps are supported. CAD-type facilities enables the user to edit vector files created with other CAD software (DWG and DXF formats are supported) and to create their own vector maps. The program is fully compatible with CAD programs (AutoCAD, MicroStation) with a layered structure, substantially similar interface and graphical functionality. Field data files may be integrated with a mapping background to enable archiving of exploration results. AGS Format data files are supported, as well as CPT test results in *.CPT and *.GEF formats. Where these data files include coordinates, the program reads these automatically and inserts the appropriate symbol on the map. MonitoringPoint

Description : MonitoringPoint is an on-line subscription service that makes data from remote sensors available via an Internet browser through a standard PC connection. The sensors may be of any type (displacement, load, temperature etc) and may be automatically data-logged or manually read. The web site provides an interactive Geographical Information System (GIS) whereby users can locate the installations of interest on the map or site plan and display the data, current or historical, using a dynamic graphical interface. The data format used is compatible with the AGS data format for monitoring data (AGS-M). There is a trial set of data on-line taken from a small selection of exposed sensors on the Ashford section of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, which the visitor may inspect to evaluate the system.


PLog

Description : PLog is a system that facilitates the generation of geotechnical borehole logs by managing the dataflow process from field data collection via a Palm OS based personal digital assistant (PDA) to a desktop database for storage of all borehole log data to a direct interface with gINT for generating borehole logs. It allows the user to utilize existing boring log templates on the desktop computer while digitally logging the field data in the PDA. It provides an interface for entering nearly all data typically documented during a site investigation including: project information, borehole information, soil samples (SPT, Bulk, Block, Wash, Undisturbed), rock samples, soil and rock stratigraphy, problems encountered during drilling, groundwater conditions, slope inclinometer and monitoring well installations, environmental measurements. It minimizes text input on the PDA by providing lists and wizards from which the user makes selections to generate the soil and rock descriptions as well as general information about the borehole. Lookup lists can be created for data that is entered repetitively such as field personnel, sampler types, drilling methods. It is compliant with version 3 of the AGS data transfer format. Upon completion of fieldwork the field data is transferred from the PDA to a personal computer/server for the production of boring logs, sections, profiles, laboratory work orders in gINT. Description : RAPID CPT is a gINT Add-in that imports raw CPT data in to gINT, performs CPT evaluations and generates CPT reports. Description : TECHBASE is a modular software system, with a relational database manager as its foundation, used in the environmental, geotechnical, mining, and oil and gas industries. Modules may be chosen to: statistically analyze data, produce graphics such as maps and cross-sections, produce 2D or 3D models, create open-pit and seam mining scenarios, analyze and convert data to a variety of compatible formats. Basic statistics include: correlation, cumulative frequency plots, histogram, ternary diagrams, scatter plots and summary statistics. Specialized statistics are also available and include: box and whisker diagrams, and advanced multivariate statistics. Data may be modeled using composite, inverse distance, krige, experimental variograms, trend surface analysis, triangulation, and minimum curvature programs. Polygons can be entered to limit data interpolation, define land or any other surface boundaries. Analysis tools include rose, piper and stiff diagrams, ground water modeling (MODFLOW), and slope stability programs (TSLOPE3). Description : WinLoG can be used to create, edit and print geotechnical and environmental borehole logs in black and white or color. It uses an Access data management system to store borehole and project data. Main features: A master project database is used to track projects over a network and individual project databases for backup and archival. Complex wells can be drawn to scale and contain multiple casings, piezometers, text annotation, and water level measurements. Logs can contain an unlimited number of header/footer titles, layers, samples, wells, text comments, paragraphs, bitmaps, lines, etc. Lithology can be cross-plotted with graphs to highlight the relationship between lithology and graph variables. Graphs can be shown as points, curves, bar charts (histograms) in linear or logarithmic scales. Macros containing text and symbol definitions can be inserted into lithologic layers. Description : WINSITU is a program for analysing insitu tests carried out with the Cambridge Insitu family of pressuremeters, including the Self Boring Pressuremeter, High Pressure Dilatometer and Cone Pressuremeter. It contains routines for implementing a number of standard and not so common analyses for soils and rock presented graphically. Standard analyses include the Gibson & Anderson (1961) procedures for identifying strength, less common analyses include the procedure suggested by Bolton & Whittle (1999) for drawing the decay of stiffness with strain from small cycles of unloading and reloading. The resulting plots and data can be printed directly from the program or exported to other formats such as Excel. The results can also be output in CSV or in AGS format.
